Evaluation Methods
Each comprehensive psychological evaluation consists of several key components
2-3 in-person
or virtual meetings
Psychological evaluations consist of 2-3 one-on-one clinical interviews with the applicant, and/ or other key members involved in their petition, such as a child or spouse.
Each meeting lasts approximately 1 hour.
Interviews go at the pace that the applicant is comfortable with, as we seek to capture as much information as possible to support the applicant’s case.
Additionally, we work closely with the attorney to articulate the applicant’s immigration challenges.
Assessment & Diagnosing Tools
We use a number of widely accepted psychological screening tools and tests to objectively assess for signs of mental and psychological distress, which lends greater credibility to the evaluation.
We assess applicants for symptoms of a mental disorder (if applicable) using the DSM-5 Manual and include a detailed description of these symptoms in the evaluation.
Assessments may include standardized testing for Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), ADHD, Emotional Disturbance, etc.
Comprehensive Report
Findings from pertinent documents, including medical and psychiatric records, personal and family history, mental status evaluations, clinical interviews, and psychological tests are reported via a lengthy write up that can credibly support an immigration petition.
Each write up is, on average, 15 pages long.
In all, evaluation reports are able to clearly identify and articulate the symptoms of the applicant's mental symptoms and history, while creating a compelling narrative through a clinical lens.
Evaluation Services

Extreme Hardship (I-601)
Immigration hardship evaluations (I-601) document the extreme hardship. Psychological evaluations can be used to show that deportation would cause extreme hardship to qualifying family members, such as U.S. citizen children.

VAWA
VAWA petitions allow spouses and children who are victims of domestic violence to obtain a green card. A mental health evaluation can help document the consequences of the abuse, such as post-traumatic stress disorder and other trauma-related problems.

T-VISA
T-Visa petitions allow victims of human trafficking to obtain T-Nonimmigrant Status. This provides victims of human trafficking with the right to live and work in the U.S. A psychological evaluation can help an immigration court understand how human trafficking affected the petitioner emotionally.

Political Asylum
Obtain Asylum in the United States due to fear of persecution or harm. Political asylum is given to undocumented immigrants who are forced to flee their country as a political refugee. Immigration mental health evaluations can help asylum seekers show evidence of persecution in their home country.

U-VISA
U-Visa gives undocumented immigrants who have been victims of a serious crime the right to live in the United States. Psychological evaluations can help U-Visa petitioners prove the mental and emotional consequences of the crime.
